Pestonik helps people learn about pests. We explain hard topics in simple words. You do not need to be an expert to understand our articles.
We want every reader to find clear answers fast. Our writers and reviewers work together to make sure each guide is correct, useful, and easy to read.
Who Writes and Reviews Our Content
Every article on Pestonik is written by a member of our content team who researches the topic in depth. Before we publish, a second team member with pest-control knowledge reviews the article for accuracy.
Some articles are also checked by outside experts, such as licensed pest control technicians or entomologists, when the topic needs extra care (for example, health risks or chemical treatments). When this happens, we name the reviewer at the bottom of the article.
Each article shows:
- The name of the author
- The date it was published
- The date it was last updated
- The name of the expert reviewer (when one was used)
This lets you see who wrote the guide and who checked it.
Our Mission
We started Pestonik because many pest articles online are confusing or too technical. We want to fix that.
Our goals are simple:

How We Write Our Articles
We use short sentences and common words. We explain any technical term the first time we use it.
We answer the question first. Readers should not have to scroll through extra text to find the answer they came for.
We use real examples. When possible, we describe what a pest actually looks like, sounds like, or does, based on documented behavior and field reports, not guesses.
We avoid scare tactics. We do not exaggerate risks to get attention. We explain real risks honestly, including when a situation is low-risk or common.
Our Sources
We only use sources we trust. These include:
- University extension offices and agricultural research centers
- Government health and environmental agencies (such as the EPA or CDC)
- Licensed pest control associations
- Peer-reviewed scientific studies
- Interviews with licensed pest control professionals
We link to these sources inside our articles so you can check them yourself. We do not use random blogs, unverified social media posts, or AI-generated content as sources.
Our Fact-Checking Process
Before an article is published, we check:
- Every fact against at least one trusted source
- Every scientific or pest name for correct spelling
- Every statistic for accuracy and a working source link
- Every image to confirm it shows the correct pest or situation
If a fact cannot be confirmed, we remove it or clearly say it is not confirmed.
Keeping Articles Current
Pest information changes. New research comes out. Treatment advice updates. Laws change.
Because of this, we review our articles on a regular schedule, at least once a year, or sooner if something important changes. When we update an article, we change the “last updated” date so readers know it is current.
Corrections Policy
We make mistakes sometimes. When that happens, we fix them quickly and openly.
If a reader points out an error, our editorial team checks it within a few business days. If the error is confirmed, we correct the article and note what changed, when it matters.
We would rather be accurate than be first.

Pestonik may show ads to help keep our content free. Advertisers do not control what we write. We do not let sponsors choose our topics, change our facts, or edit our conclusions.
